Abstract
This study develops a model for the Peruvian pension system in order to analyze the effects of the reform adopted in 2012 on different population segments. We also analyze the effects of complementary policies to such reform. The baseline forecast scenario runs until 2050, and is found that even though the number of contributors doubles, the coverage rate (in terms of regular contributors) would continue to be low. Hence, besides the reform implemented in 2012, other measures would be necessary to have a more inclusive pension system, especially those who focus on workers in microenterprises and the youth.
