As part of the celebrations for this anniversary, Pedro de la Puente, president of the Numismatic Society of Peru, presents an article on the Mint of Lima and the other mints that operated in Peru during the Viceroyalty. Edgar Valda Martínez, a history professor at the Universidad Mayor, Real y Pontificia de San Francisco Xavier de Chuquisaca in Bolivia, also writes about the history of the Potosí Mint and its relationship with Spain and our country during the 16th–19th centuries. Finally, Carlos Contreras, a historian at the PUCP, summarizes a longer chapter on the topic of currency in 20th-century Peru that appears in the book on monetary history published by the BCRP and the IEP as part of their collection on economic history.
